"I’m at the Holy Crossroads Inn, a day’s walk north of Paris. Outside, the sky is dark, and getting darker… It’s the perfect night for a story.: - THE INQUISITOR'S TALE
We are excited to announce that the Rebel Heart Books youth summer reading club kicks off Sunday, August 5th. Youth aged 10-15 are invited to join us in reading THE INQUISITOR'S TALE. Written by Adam Gidwitz and illuminated by Hatem Aly, THE INQUISITOR'S TALE spent two years as a bestseller in hardcover and is considered one of the best examples of youth literature in the last five years. Hailed as a game-changer, THE INQUISITOR'S TALE, tells the story of "three magical children and their holy dog," as they embark on a medieval pilgrimage to save their land from dragons, book burning, prejudice, and dangerous zealotry.
Set amidst the backdrop Europe's 13th century crusades, Gidwitz's book interweaves history and fantasy in a way that somehow zeroes in on the perennial challenges of the human experience: "Themes of social justice, tolerance and empathy, and understanding differences, especially as they relate to personal beliefs and religion, run throughout his expertly told tale." - The Inquisitor's Tale Educators Guide.
The Youth Reading Club will meet Sundays in August, culminating with a community excursion related to the book. Participation cost is $20 per child, which covers the price of the book as well as weekly snacks and activities. Please RSVP by July 29th, 2018.
